Eloise's 1st Birthday

By: Chrystal Park

The advice we always give to potential clients is “hire a day-of coordinator.” I should have listened to my own advice for my own daughter’s birthday. My husband and I chose to do an In N Out themed birthday because that was the only thing I craved every week during pregnancy. We hired In N Out for the food and drinks and had help from friendors who took care of decor and set-up. Everything was going according to plan until 30minutes prior to the party, I get a call from In N Out with very unfortunate news. They couldn’t make it to the party because there was something wrong with the truck. Now, usually, I would be calm and come up with a plan b right away. But because it was a personal event, I froze. I immediately handed the phone to my husband who handled the situation with such calm and grace. Long story short, in the end, we had to send family and friends for an emergency food and beverage run while guests were already starting to arrive. Luckily, not everyone knew we had booked the truck so they didn’t know anything was wrong. But enough about what could have been a disaster, let’s talk about the amazing details!

We designed the head table and welcome area with a mix of palm and monstera leaves to give it a nice summer-tropical vibe. Rekindle Creative did an amazing job with all the floral arrangements. We mixed in some traditional Korean decor, like the dol go im’s (bean towers). According to the Chinese calendar, Eloise was born the year of the rooster. So one of the towers had an image of a rooster while the other tower said “Happy 1st Birthday” in Korean. Sara Kim, from Handmade by Sara Kim, created all the paper goods for the event and customized everything so it matches the theme. She went above and beyond and created hamburger coloring sheets for the kids, food tickets for all the guests, and created custom signs for the doljabi. Sweet n Saucy helped us create custom desserts for the party and they were amazing! Bubblemania entertained all the kids, and some parents, with indoor and outdoor bubble playtime. We opted out on doing a cake smash and attempted a burger smash instead. The kids got to take home an In N Out shirt as a party favor and the adults got to take home traditional Korean rice cakes. Diana Lee did an amazing job capturing all the beautiful details of this milestone and you would have never known about the food/beverage fiasco, if I never mentioned it. But guys, no matter how small or big of an event, have someone else in charge so you can fully enjoy the day!

Emory's 1st Birthday

We love throwing all types of soirée's! When Christine contacted us for her daughter's 1st birthday bash, we were so excited! We got to design this event and had a blast doing it. Christine gave us a color scheme to work with and she wanted the colors to match her daughter's hanbok (traditional Korean dress). She wanted a clean and fun look for her daughters birthday so we kept it simple by designing the head table with minimal decor. The show stopper was the 6 foot handmade rosette banner. We also used a white and yellow striped table runner and added some florals to brighten up the table. Christine is a teacher so she made creative games for the guests to entertain themselves with and the kids were entertained with a balloon and bubbles artist. The guests got to indulge in delicious Thai cuisine provided by Saladang. After lunch, guests got to taste some sweet treats such as cookies, rice krispies, cupcakes and dduk (traditional Korean rice cake). I'll stop discussing the details so you can enjoy these awesome photos of the event by Summer Nicole!

Olivia the Pig themed 1st Birthday (Dohl)

August 19, 2014

For Olivia's 1st Birthday (dohl), her mom knew exactly what theme she wanted and contacted us to help with the design concepts for an Olivia the Pig themed soirée. Yes, Olivia is the name of the pig as well as the name of the birthday girl. All the decor encompassed the Olivia theme: with the red and white polka dot decor, pink flowers, Olivia party favors and down to the cute cake topper. We had a blast designing and personalizing the doljabi table and the dessert table. It was so much fun creating a cute pink and red soirée for an adorable baby girl. Happy 1st Birthday Olivia! Thank you to all the amazing vendors below for being a part of Olivia's birthday celebration!
